Technology is the first step in managing litigation costs. Our commitment is to remain innovative in utilizing technology to manage litigation matters efficiently. We continually upgrade our software and hardware to improve speed and clarity in document imaging, data base management, voice and data communications, and research. Our customized litigation support software is one of the more sophisticated computerized systems available to defense firms anywhere in the country. We have assembled an internal research library, brief bank, forms system and case summary management method which allows quick access. We have software which aids us in preparing hearing exhibits and settlement calculations. We have the ability to create customized billing statements, as well as the ability to bill our clients via e-mail. Internet access is available at every desktop. Each attorney has a notebook computer that makes off-site access possible. This technology, coupled together with our experience, makes us a cost-efficient, effective law firm. We have scanners for providing paperless copies of documents. In addition, we have the Internet technology to set up one-on-one interfacing (i.e. establish an extranet) which allows restricted access to one another’s files. We have desktop fax options, which give us the capability to send and receive faxes from anywhere. Each attorney and paralegal has a Dell notebook computer, which allows him or her to stay in constant contact with the office through e-mail and fax. The support staff uses up-to-date Compaq desktops. These are all avenues that allow for quick, accurate communication with our clients. We employ industry leading technologies, such as WatchGuard and Symantec Anti-virus to protect our data electronically. We have recently upgraded our already excellent method of data backup, retention, and disaster recovery. Our Compaq servers are housed in an environmentally controlled, physically secure data center. Our firm continues to be on the cutting edge with respect to utilizing these types of concepts. We anticipate ongoing significant technological developments, including increased use of video conferencing in litigation, such as for depositions when parties are located out of the Twin City metro area. We have recently upgraded our time and billing system, as well as our customer relationship management software. To accommodate these upgrades, we upgraded all user PCs to Windows XP with WordPerfect Office 2002. We will be fully compatible with Microsoft Word and WordPerfect. We anticipate that as these additional advances occur, we will continue to be at the forefront of the legal community in providing these opportunities and services to and for our clients. |
