Mark Brown joined Arthur, Chapman, Kettering, Smetak & Pikala, P.A. in early 2006. He brought with him a breadth of experience gained at several Twin Cities defense firms since graduating with honors from Hamline University School of Law in 1990. Each firm specialized in different areas of law. As a result, Mark has the distinct advantage and privilege of having been exposed to a vast array of substantive legal matters.
Indeed, over the years Mark has litigated, tried, arbitrated, and argued to appellate panels cases involving fires, no-fault issues, dog bites, sex abuse, wrongful death, trucking law, complex tort, slip-and-falls, UM/UIM, first- and third-party coverage under commercial and personal lines liability and property policies, insurance fraud, arson, products liability, municipal law, malpractice, lead exposure, construction defect and site accidents, contracts, CERCLA/MERLA, indemnity agreements, subrogation, and various aspects of workers' compensation and bankruptcy. In short, Mark's varied background uniquely positions him to respond promptly and accurately to the needs of our clients, whatever they may be.
Mark's forte at the firm is multi-party commercial construction disputes, but he also represents insurers and their insureds in construction accident, fraud, coverage, premises liability, and commercial litigation matters in Minnesota and Wisconsin State and Federal court. In addition, he is a member of the firm's Commercial Transportation Practice Group, on which he is working with partners Lee Miller and Jim Mewborn to develop and expand their railroad defense work.
Several times, Mark has several times been named a "Rising Star" and "Super Lawyer" by Minnesota Law and Politics. He has also lectured and presented on a number of legal issues.
