Emily is skilled at advising railroad clients and representing them in all stages of litigation and appeal, with particular emphasis on FELA litigation. She also handles insurance defense litigation (personal injury lawsuits arising out of automobile and trucking accidents) and some construction law.
Emily began her law career as a law clerk to the Hon. Janet Poston in Hennepin County, then spent five years in an insurance defense firm where her practice included taking depositions on a near-daily basis, in addition to motion practice, mediation, and handling no-fault arbitration hearings. She spent the next seven years in a practice exclusively dedicated to the representation of railroad clients in FELA and grade crossing litigation. She tried cases on their behalf in state and federal court, securing defense verdicts in some high-profile cases. That experience has given her intimate familiarity with the civil litigation process and enabled her to develop a strong sense of comfort and ease in the courtroom.
Hobbies of Emily include baking, running (primarily to counteract the baking), indulging in her newly-rediscovered love of cross country skiing, and traveling to and exploring national parks with her husband and two young sons.
