Arthur, Chapman, Kettering, Smetak & Pikala, P.A. has announced the election of Christine W. Chambers, Ken J. Kucinski, Perssis Meshkat, and Shannon A. Nelson as shareholders at the firm.

Christine handles a wide variety of complex civil litigation. She counsels medical providers, employers, businesses, insurers, and other professionals, and represents them in litigated matters. Her expertise includes considerable trial experience and appellate practice so Christine is able to take a case from start to finish. This breadth of experience gives her a unique perspective on helping clients solve their problems. Christine is licensed in California, Minnesota, and Wisconsin and co-chairs the Professional Liability practice group.

Ken has been litigating Workers’ Compensation cases for over ten years and focuses his practice on defending employers, insurance carriers, and third party administrators in Workers’ Compensation claims brought against them. Ken is licensed in Minnesota and Wisconsin and has experience defending all manners of workplace injuries, from simple strains and sprains to catastrophic injuries.

Ken enjoys providing tailored training services to individual clients upon request and lecturing at industry events. Ken serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group and as co-author of the firm’s Minnesota and Wisconsin Workers’ Compensation Update publications. He is a past President of the St. Croix Valley Bar Association and current member of the Wisconsin Association of Worker’s Compensation Attorneys.

Perssis is a versatile civil defense litigation attorney who handles a broad range of civil matters. Her general liability practice includes automobile law, premises liability, social host liability, and construction related matters. Perssis also maintains an active insurance coverage practice, providing guidance to insurers on insurance policy coverage issues.

Perssis enjoys working with clients on pre-litigation and litigation matters, from simple to complex, and consulting with them throughout the process to obtain the best possible outcome. Clients count on her aptitude to listen, analyze their situation, and develop a cost effective litigation strategy – whether it be an early resolution, trial, or appeal. Perssis is licensed in Minnesota state and federal court.

Shannon has experience in civil litigation including premises liability, motor vehicle accident, personal injury, construction defect, subrogation, as well as workers’ compensation. She is the Co-Chair of the Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association’s Motor Vehicle Accident Committee.

Shannon’s unique legal background makes her an excellent choice in defending a case in which there are both workers’ compensation and civil action components like when a worker who has been injured as a result of a motor vehicle accident or a slip and fall. She understands the nuances of both, and as a result, can more efficiently and effectively defend both cases. She is licensed in both Minnesota and Wisconsin as well as federal district court.
