We are excited to welcome Selma Demirović-Portesan back to our team. Selma’s practice focuses on construction law, and she has experience assisting with construction defect claims, contract and scope of work disputes, and mechanic’s liens.
Why did you decide to practice law?
I felt called to practice law because I am a first generation American who watched my parents navigate the complicated path to citizenship, and I have an undying curiosity for the world and its inhabitants. I truly love working with people, and find that even in times of conflict, there is such beauty and humanity in acknowledging differences and working through them with the goal of a mutually agreeable outcome in mind.
What are you most excited for in your role at ACKSP?
I am most excited to gain experience in the courtroom; specifically with evidence presentation and opening/closing arguments. I love the theatrical nature of litigation and feel grateful to have the opportunity to hone those skills and become more comfortable in the courtroom.
What is an interesting fact about you?
I was a lifeguard at a water park for many years, until I went to law school.
