James O. Markert

James is an associate in the Construction Group, where his practice focuses on construction-related matters and supporting clients through complex project and risk management issues.

James earned his J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. He received his undergraduate degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where he studied history and political science. During law school, he developed a strong interest in construction law while working as a Corporate Contracts Intern with a professional civil engineering firm, where he gained practical experience reviewing and supporting contract matters in the engineering and construction space.

Raised in a military family, James moved frequently throughout his childhood but considers Minnesota his home. Outside the office, he is an avid Minnesota sports fan and enjoys following the Vikings, Wild, Timberwolves, and Loons. He also enjoys traveling, exploring different cultures and cuisines, and trying new restaurants throughout the Twin Cities.
